Re-Collection Log #5
Hello everyone! And welcome back to the Re-Collection Log! Where I chronicle my journey of rebuilding my Pyrates collection from scratch! In today's log I have some great additions to my collection to show off.
For starter's, as you might remember, I voiced my troubles with finding a copy of Mutiny Isle in one of my last posts. But I held out, and eventually one popped up in my search! And it had a little bonus too~
It came with the Bayou Discovery set from the Pirates of The Caribbean line. Now I'm not really collecting the POTC sets, but I was interested in this set for the MOC capabilities. I loved the dead tree it came with. Plus more parts are always welcome.
Mutiny Isle arrived! And in great condition too! Unfortunately, I broke the eyepatch off the skull like an idiot though :( So now I need to find a replacement skull at some point.... Hurray..... But at least the rest of the set is in good condition.
Now I had all of the original Skull sets.... But I was still missing two more! The ones that released in the later waves of Pyrates. I kept hunting around, buying some parts here or there to try and piece them together.... And that's when a holy grail popped up in my eBay feed.
I. Could. Not. Believe it. One of the rarest pieces for any Pyrates collection. And it had everything! I was already looking for Plunderer's Port and Doubloon Mystery..... But this set ALSO came with the special bonus skull!!!!!!!!! I had never even dreamed I'd find one for a good price. But here it was!
I was actually in the grocery store when I saw this listing. My jaw hit the floor and I bought it on the spot! LoL
I waited patiently for the set to arrive, and when it did it was everything I had dreamed of.
First we have Plunderer's Port. The set is kind of mid, but it makes up for it with some great figures. Agamemnon is one of my favorite Skeletons. His bronze head looks so cool. And of course the Lost Souls are always fun figures! I actually already had Destreader though.... So now I have two LoL. Its just as well though, because one of them has a broken hand.
And next up we have Doubloon Mystery! This set is much more interesting than Plunderer's Port imo. The set has a much cooler build. And King Midas is just the COOLEST figure ever. The golden skull with the blue strap looks absolutely awesome..... Oh and Schooner Lavoie is here too. He's kind of whatever. I don't have much to say about him LoL. I actually already owned him too.
I have two King Midases and two Agamemnons as well now!
And of course, here's the bonus skull. Not many people have this skull. And I'm sure some people don't even know it exists! It is a little lame that its not a proper set, and just has extras. But hey, I guess that's what a bonus set is. Right? I do wish it came with some figures or two though. The skull itself is the only thing about it that's rare. But it is a really cool skull though. I want to make a MOC with it!
And as a little bonus, here's all six of the Pyrates' skull sets displayed together for one big display! There really is a lot of cool stuff in these sets, and I'm super glad to have them all in my collection now. I'm one step closer to having a completed collection!
